Weekly Optional Training Information

Marksmanship Team:
The Cadet Marksmanship Program is a challenging and competitive sports program accessible to all cadets. It develops skills through superior training and Olympic-style competition. Cadets have the opportunity to participate in a series of competitions at the local level that culminate in provincial/territorial competitions and an annual National Cadet Marksmanship Championship. While developing safe handling of rifles, promote sportsmanship, sport etiquette and self-discipline, high level of marksmanship technical skills


Effective Speaking Competition
Effective speaking is critical to communication in Air Cadets, the military, business, and society. Every year any cadet member within the squadron are given a opportunity to try out to represent the unit in the local, provincial, and national level amongst Air Cadets across the country. cadets are required to prepare a time limited speech on a list of topics provided by the national committee, and a impromptu speech; where adherence to strict structure, and enforced rules to provide a fair and rewarding experience.
The Squadron fields an Effective Speaking team annually. Cadets learn and practice how to plan and deliver a speech on chosen topics during competitions at the local through national levels.

Drill Team
Improvement and putting into practice the knowledge of all individual and squad (flight) drill movements executed by the Air Cadets.
Preparation and practice of a choreography (a compulsory sequence with words of command and a silent choreographed sequence) towards the end year drill competition and ACR Presentation.

Pipe Band
Cadets will learn how to; play a musical instrument, read music, musical theory and drill with instruments and formation on parade. The Cadet will be able to advance his/her musical talents and progress to perform at various parades and events throughout the community.

Flight Training Program “Ground School”
The Air Studies “Ground School” program is provided to offer academic training to interested and of age Air Cadets who wish to compete for selection in the Air Cadet Glider Scholarship or the Power Pilot Scholarship programs in the Summer Courses.
