WELCOME NEW CADETS!
We are pleased that you have joined the 177 RCACS! You would have also received a welcome packet from the office when you joined up. Please read over the material carefully, and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us via email at 177Air@cadets.gc.ca. We hope that you enjoy the program!

If you have just joined up this year, you are considered as LEVEL 1.

There will be a New Parent & Cadet information Virtual Meeting taking place next week. The meeting information will be emailed out in the next few days to new Cadets and Parents.

In the meantime, please go into our website: 177rcacs.ca and take a look around. On the main page under the 'Home' tab, there is a Cadet & Parent Handbook you can look over.

TRAINING
Virtual Parade Night Lessons will be starting this Friday, Oct 2.
Each Level will need to log into their lesson(s) for the evening using the links posted on the website.

Each lesson will have a separate meeting link with a small break built in.

If you do not know what Level you are in, you can refer to the Cadet Level Listing that was posted on the website under "Weekly Announcements".

ATTENDANCE: A reminder that if you are not able to make a virtual parade night, Cadets are to notify the office using the 'Cadet Absent Request' form located on the website under the 'Forms' tab. Only request forms received by Thursday evenings will be considered as 'excused'.

RULES:
You will require a password to enter the meeting (virtual classroom). This will be emailed out in a separate communication as we are trying to ensure that the meetings are secure. We will be monitoring for unwanted guests in these classrooms. Therefore the password will not be posted anywhere on the website.

When logging into the meeting ensure you sign in so that your name appears as:
CADET LAST NAME, CADET FIRST NAME
This will allow the Level Officer to properly conduct attendance. Do not use Parent Names as we will not be able to take the time to determine who you are. Again this is to ensure that we do not have anyone who does not belong in the classroom attending. Cadet safety is our priority.

When you log in, you will first be place into a 'Lobby'; from there the Level Officer will let you into the meeting at the appropriate time. Do not try to log in too early, as the meeting may not be started yet.

Be courteous to the instructors. Level Officers will be logged into the lesson and will be monitoring behaviour.

Instructors: Must hand in a Lesson Plan to Lt R Chennells BEFORE your Friday lesson that you are instructing.
Instructional Guides are posted on the website under 'Cadet Training' and also on the Cadet portal so that you can create your lesson plans.

ANNUAL VERIFICATIONS
All Annual Verifications (for returning Cadets) have been emailed out.

Please ensure that these are completed and returned to the office via email at: 177Air@cadets.gc.ca in order for you to participate in Cadet activities.
Please include 'Annual Verification' in the subject line so that CI Flook can address these quickly from our inbox.

IF YOU ARE NOT RETURNING TO CADETS, PLEASE INFORM THE OFFICE.

Winnipeg Area Virtual Ground School
Will be conducted as follows:
Wednesday evenings; 07 Oct 20 to 16 Dec 20
1830 hrs to 2100 hrs (6:30 pm – 9:00 pm)

This is for cadets who 16 years of age or older by August 2021.

Cadets interested in attending the Winnipeg area ground school shall email Lt R Chennells at Robert.Chennells@cadets.gc.ca

Applying for which program: Glider or Power.

If you do sign up - Attendance will be taken each night to allow Capt Ducharme to make an informed decision about who to nominate for the exam once the time comes.
