Week of Dec 6th, 2019
CODE OF CONDUCT
We are still missing quite a few of the Code of Conduct forms.  If you have not turned one in yet, it needs to be completed ASAP.

PROMOTIONS AND AWARDS
The following promotions and awards were conducted:
 
Leading Air Cadet (LAC) to Corporal (Cpl)

The following Cadets received their Air Cadet League (ACL) Service Medal

UNIFORMS & DRESS CODE
Please be advised that uniforms are taking longer than expected due to delivery from our supplier.If your uniform is ready, your name will be posted on the whiteboard outside the Supply office.

DRESS CODE
If you are not in uniform you must wear slacks and a collared shirt.
No sweats, yoga pants, track pants, graphic t-shirts, graphic hoodies or  sweatshirts.
These must be in clean and presentable condition (no rips, stains etc). 
The only exceptions are for Sports Nights or if you are in the Range. 
Hair longer than your shoulders must be worn up in a bun.
Cadets are assessed on their deportment every parade night. 

TRAINING
CAF Familiarization – Level 1 & 2 – Sat, Dec 7; 0900 – 1200 hrs; 17 Wing
Do not arrive earlier than 08:45.Dress:Civilian
We will be walking outside therefore dress for the weather.
Parents to pick up no later than 1200 noon.
 
CADET MESS DINNER – Next Friday (Dec 13)
Dress: C-1 (with medals) or collared shirt/blouse, slacks, tie or suit.
Dinner provided by the Squadron.
 
GROUND SCHOOL Dec 7 will be from 0900 – 1030 hrs at Minto; practice exam will take place
 
EFFECTIVE SPEAKING – Cancelled Dec 7; will resume in Jan
 
CAMP APPLICATION FORMS
These were handed out to Cadets interested in applying for next summer’s camp.Forms must be completed and returned no later than 10-Jan. 

Anyone applying for a National Course must return all application and paperwork required no later than 12-Dec-2019. National Courses are for Senior Cadets only [Gliding, Power, International Exchange, Advanced Aviation]. These can be emailed to 177Air@cadets.gc.ca
 
A copy of the form and brochure will be posted on the website under ‘Weekly Announcements’
 
An information session on Summer Camp for parents will be held next Fri (Dec 13) form 7:00 – 8:00 pm.This information session will explain the summer camp application process and how Cadets are selected.

RANGE
Dec 12 – last Range session for the year
Jan 9 – Range will re-start

PIPE BAND
Cancelled - Dec 7

DRILL TEAM
Will resume in January (date to be announced).

ADMINISTRATION
Reminder that if you are not coming to Cadets you must call or email the office in order to be considered excused by the Thursday evening prior.   
 Office Hours: 1800 – 2045 hrs on Fridays only

PARENT SPONSORING COMMITTEE
Tag Days – Dec 14 & 15; Sign-up sheets are available.  There are quite a number of shifts that require a Cadet.  Shifts are only 2 hours each.
 
This is a very important fundraiser for the Squadron as this allows us to do activities such as power flying and to purchase equipment that is not covered by the Cadet program. Please sign up for a shift – a copy of the schedule is posted on the website.
 
Email the Squadron at 177Air@cadets.gc.ca to inform us which shift you would like.
 
REMINDER: Cadets MUST have a parent present to supervise during the shift.
 
COMMUNITY SERVICE - FOOD DRIVE
We have 2 large bins that need filling for Winnipeg Harvest!  Your donations can be dropped off until December 13, 2019.  Please see Lt G Chennells to drop off your item(s).
 
Every Cadet that contributes to the Food Drive will be entered into a draw to win a $50 VISA Gift Card! 
Top 10 Most-Wanted Items:
  • Canned Fish and Poultry – chicken or turkey; tuna or salmon packed in water.
  • Canned Fruit and Vegetables – packed in own juice.
  • Canned Stew, Chili, Brown Beans
  • Peanut Butter
  • Whole Grain Pasta
  • Baby Formula and Food – iron-enriched formula; baby food jars of vegetables, fruit or meat; infant cereal such as oatmeal, barley or rice.
  • Rice – Plain, brown, converted, or parboiled
  • Canned Spaghetti Sauce
  • Cereal – plain, fiber, non-sugar coated
  • Canned Soup – vegetable, tomato, lentil, pea

ARRIVAL & PICK-UP
Cadets should not arrive prior to 1800 hrs as the doors to the building may not be unlocked and there may not be Officers present to take responsibility of your child.
Cadets are to be picked up no later than 2130 hrs Parents are asked to come inside at 2100 hrs to hear any announcements that are given at the end of the evening.
