COVID-19: Impact on Cadet Training

Parents, families, and cadets,

We have received direction from our Chain of Command regarding how we will deal with the COVID-19 pandemic moving forward.

The safety of our cadets is our number one priority. The Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Cadet Organization are taking mitigating steps to protect its members as well as the general public.

The following activities will be postponed (rescheduled where possible) until after 30 April 2020;

·        All overnight cadet activities
·        All multi corps activities
·        Any activity not conducted at the squadron parade location (including optional activities, Fam Flying, ceremonial parades etc.);
·        CAF Familiarization Activities (local or otherwise)

The following activities are authorized (will continue);

·        Single day activities conducted at the parade location of the squadron;
·        Parade nights, at your parade location, as planned;
·        Stage III Marksmanship, conducted as a mail-in;

Awaiting decision on the following:

·        MB Effective Speaking Competition
·        Cadet Summer Training (CTCs)

Any updates to this direction will be provided as they are available.

For parents and cadets who have concerns about CTC plans for the summer, that direction will come by approximately 1 May 2020, as information is assessed. We certainly understand that this is going to cause a significant amount of stress on parents and cadets who are all trying to make plans and manage this to the best of their ability. We will endeavour to assist you as much as possible, to navigate this challenging matter.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter please do not hesitate to bring them to my attention.

Any Cadet that is not planning on attending a parade night or an activity is reminded to complete the Cadet Absentee Request Form on the website. This is the preferred method to notify the office of a cadet absence.
