CADET TRAINING YEAR 2021-2022

Good day to Cadets & Parents! We hope that you all had a great summer so far!

You are probably wondering what is happening with the upcoming training year. Below is some information for you to be aware of.

Training Year 2021-2022
We expect that COVID-19 will remain a factor in Canada until at least the spring of 2022. Due to those realities, training and activities during 21-22 training year will be adjusted to align with the challenges of conducting training in a COVID-19 environment.

We are currently waiting on guidance and requirements from the Cadet Program Headquarters on when and how to proceed with training this year.
We want to keep both our Cadets & staff safe for this training year. We also need to follow any provincial restrictions that may be in place.  Though our goal is to hopefully resume in-person training, we require approval from Headquarters first. At this time, we do not have any guidance for vaccination requirements for cadets. As soon as we have more information, you will be notified.

Having said that, the staff have already begun to look at ways to conduct this year's training. September is being used to prepare for an Oct 1st start date. This is a 'soft' start, as this timeline may change based on any COVID-19 situations that arise.

In the meantime, there are a few things that you can do to assist us with this.

1) ANNUAL VALIDATION FORMS
Over the next couple of weeks, previously enrolled Cadets will be sent the "Annual Validation Form'. This form MUST be reviewed for completeness and signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the Squadron Office.

Confirm names/addresses/phone #'s and emails and spellings are correct
Ensure that there is a Cadet email address in Section 1 (this is a must moving forward)
Ensure that Section 5 has a "Yes' or 'No' check-marked for the question
Parent Name and Signature

Completed forms are to be emailed to: 177Air@cadets.gc.ca

** Please inform the office as well, if you are not planning on returning to the Squadron. ***

2) SENIOR CADETS
In the coming weeks, you will receive a link to complete a survey for the upcoming training year. It is important that you take the time complete this survey, so that we can plan accordingly.
We are also planning a Senior Cadet Workshop in September. Keep your eye out for more information that is coming.

3) CADET365
What is Cadet365?
Cadet365 is Microsoft Office 365 deployed for the Cadet and Canadian Junior Rangers Program. It is a cloud-based suite of business tools such as, Word, Excel, OneNote, MS Teams and many others. This solution is being deployed to facilitate work from personal devices, and provide an alternate training delivery system.

Who will use Cadet365?
Cadet365 was used for Virtual Summer Training (vCTC) this year. Following that, Cadet365 will be used by all Corps/Sqn for their own virtual engagement requirements (with Microsoft Teams) and also to collaborate and share resources and information among staff, cadets, and parents.

When will I get access to Cadet365?
Cadet365 will be introduced in a phased approach, with the priority being vCTC Cadets. Those Cadets will already have accounts set up.
Roll-out of Cadets at all units will occur over the next few months.

What do Cadets need to do?
On your Annual Validation Form (see above), ALL Cadets MUST provide a personal email address. This CANNOT be a parent/guardian email.
If you require to create an email address there are many free options such as gmail or hotmail that you can create one.
In order for Cadet365 to be rolled out to a Cadet, we must have this personal email address on file.
