Announcements

Week of Jan 10th, 2020
DRESS CODE
If you are not in uniform you must wear pants (no sweats, yoga pants, track pants, etc) and a collared shirt (no graphic t-shirts).
These must be in clean and presentable condition (no rips, stains etc). 
No hoodies, however, sweaters may be worn (no graphics).
Hair longer than your shoulders must be worn up in a bun. 
Females - Earrings must be a stud.  Males must remove earrings.

LANYARDS
Cadets are to be wearing their issued lanyards and badges every parade night.  All Cadets are to bring their lanyards starting next week.  
If you have lost your lanyard, a replacement one will cost $2.00
If you have not yet received your lanyard, it will be given out at the next parade night. 

ARRIVAL & PICK-UP
Cadets should not arrive prior to 1800 hrs as the doors to the building may not be unlocked and there may not be Officers present to take responsibility of your child.
Cadets are to be picked up no later than 2130 hrsParents are asked to come inside at 2100hrs to hear any announcements that are given at the end of the evening.

TRAINING
CAMP APPLICATIONS FORMS – These were due by the end of the night on Friday, Jan 10th.  Late applications may not be processed. 

MUSIC CLINIC (PIPE BAND ONLY)
Has been rescheduled for 22-Feb-2020.  Will take place at Minto.  
Additional details will follow in the next couple of weeks from Lt R Chennells.

 LEVEL 3'S - 15 Minute TEACHING ASSESSMENTS
All Level 3's that have chosen their 15 min teaching assessment topic must be ready to teach over the next few weeks.  You MUST complete this assessment in order to pass your level.  
Cadets can find the Instructional Guides on the website under "Master Training Plan", as well as the Lesson Plan Template that must be used. Link to website: https://177rcacs.ca/master-training-plan/ 

LEVEL 4 - You are in the Range next Friday (Jan 17); civilian clothing may be worn.

SUPPLY
Some uniforms and uniform parts have arrived.  Please check the whiteboard outside the supply office for your name.  If your name is listed, Capt Ocran has something for you to pick up.  

MARKSMANSHIP
Next week (Jan 16) will be the last range night for all Cadets.
CI Mills will announce in the coming weeks who has been accepted to the Marksmanship Team and will move forward to Stage 2 competition. 

PIPE BAND
PRACTICES
Sat Jan 11 & 18th
1000 - 1200 hrs at Minto.

DRILL TEAM
Will resume on 19-Jan.
1300 - 1500 hrs at Minto.
See CI Woodland for more information.  Open to all Cadets interested on being on the team. 

EFFECTIVE SPEAKING
Will re-start Jan 18; will now be 2 hours.
Toastmasters will instruct from 1200 - 1300 hrs;  Effective Speaking instructed from 1300 - 1400 hrs.

ADMINISTRATION
Annual Verifications must be completed and handed in to CI Flook in the office, before Cadet can do any activities (FTX, Drill, Range) with the Squadron. We are still missing quite a few of these.  
 
Reminder that if you are not coming to Cadets you must call or email the office in order to be considered excused by the Thursday evening prior.   
 
Office Hours: 1800 – 2045 hrs on Fridays only

PARENT SPONSORING COMMITTEE
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (OCT 11)
ALL parents are requested to attend
The Parent Sponsoring Committee Executive will be reviewing their function and role within the Squadron. 
It is also an election year, and the Executive are looking for parents to join one of the many executive positions.

This is a reminder that you should be checking the Duty Roster to see when your are scheduled and what task.  It is also your responsibility to find a replacement for you if you are not attending Cadets that night and to inform the Office, ASAP.

A reminder that the deadline to apply for this scholarship is 31-Jan-2020.

Lord Strathcona & Royal Canadian Legion, Cadet Medal of Excellence
Applications for these 2 medals are now open for all Level 3 and up Cadets.
Details are listed on the application information form located on the website under 'Weekly Announcements'.
Applications are due to the office no later than 14-Feb-2020.
